Summer Intensives

Research shows learning loss occurs for all children over the summer months. By enrolling your child in The Reading Connection’s Summer Intensive Program, your student can not only retain what they have learned during the year but also make strides and growth.

Each two hour session at our clinic is with a certified reading or math specialist up to four times a week. Sessions are tailored fit to your child’s specific needs and may include reading, writing, and math. Please let us know if you would like your child paired with their regular specialist. Sessions do not need to be consecutive, but must be completed by August 10.

We also offer an optional 45 minute extension for computer-based working memory. This program will help your student develop their abilities for staying focused on a task, blocking out distractions, and keeping them aware about what is happening around them. Improvements in working memory will also help your student retain and manipulate information in their mind and use it in their thinking.

In a 2005 study with ADHD children using a computer working memory program, Dr. Klingberg, a leading cognitive neuroscientist, concluded that “parents ratings showed a significant decrease in symptoms of hyperactivity/impulsivity, which resulted in an improved response inhibition and reasoning.”
